Elemi Resin (Canarium ovatum) 3 oz
This type of Elemi resin comes from the Philippines. It is a bit soft and stretchy. It is in the Burseraceae family, just like Frankincense.
Elemi has a long history of use in traditional medicine, dating back to ancient times. The oil was used to treat a variety of ailments, including digestive disorders, respiratory infections, and skin conditions.
These compounds give the oil its antiseptic, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
It can also be used in making perfumes. You can infuse it in a carrier oil and make a tincture for perfumes. It is not edible but the smell is peppery, lemony, and has incense-like facets used to bring freshness to fragrances. I do not suggest burning it because it melts so quickly it will just make a mess. I like using Elemi for respiratory issues and also to add to perfumes I make because of its beautiful smell.
I only acquired a small amount and it will be in its own wrapper because it is so sticky. Each bag contains approximately 3 ounces of resin. You can infuse it the same way you do Frankincense, 1 ounce to 8 ounces of carrier oil. The smell is quite strong so I would not go lower in the carrier oil.
Resins and Essential Oils may irritate the skin so please handle with care. Do not put the essential oil directly on your skin, please use a carrier oil and proper dilution methods.
