Sometimes I have trouble sleeping, and sometimes my anxiety level is up because I do too much thinking or things just do not go right.
Being a Clinical Aromatherapist, I have used many essential oils to help me with both.
I wanted to make something that was a bit different not using essential oils but the plants themselves so it was not so concentrated and still worked.
I came up with this blend of natural plants and Frankincense resin and experimented with it to see if it would work and Boy did it work!
I blended Valerian Root (Valeriana officinalis) which is wonderful for any type of anxiety issues and sleep issues but it smells like "stinky feet".
Valerian root is one of the ingredients used in Valium which is a prescription drug used for this purpose also. I wanted to use the plant not something synthetic. I infused it in MCT oil for 60 days.
Given that the smell does not appeal to everyone, I blended it with Frankincense Boswellia papyrifera resin that I infused in MCT oil also for 60 days. This resin is extremely calming and can bring pleasant dreams.
I also blended it with Lavender Buds (Lavandula angustifolia) that I infused in MCT Oil for 30 days. Lavender is known to relax.
Once blended together it still had a bit of a stinky smell so i added Neroli (Citrus aurantium) concrete infused in Jojoba oil. Neroli is excellent for any type of anxiety issues.
The smell is a bit unique but it does work. If you really do not like the smell you can add a few drops of of essential oils that are calming or for sleep. The smell is strong when you put your nose to the bottle, but when adding 1 drop each from the dropper bottle that is with it, to inside your wrist, the smell gets less. Then you can bring it up to your nose and inhale it.
Valerian Root is not recommended for children nor the elderly.
