Ancient Bible Anointing Oil-Limited Edition-
I am truly in awe of this Anointing Oil I created. It is the result of artistry, patience, and countless experiments to achieve the fragrance I envisioned. This blend has been infusing for a full year—every few months, I checked on it, adjusting and refining until it was perfect. Compared to last year’s batch, I added several new botanicals. The cedarwood, sourced from Israel, is said to come from the very region where Noah built his Ark, adding a profound sense of history to the oil.
Some of the ingredients are mentioned in the Old Testament. I spent two years researching these sacred plants for my Ancient Oils of the Bible course, consulting with a priest and an Orthodox rabbi to ensure authenticity. From that work, I identified 11 anointing herbs and plants, some of which were used during Solomon’s time and in the First Temple.
This particular blend has been aged for one year in ancient-style olive oil from Israel, just as it would have been in antiquity.
Uses:
This oil is deeply calming, ideal for meditation, prayer, and ceremonial use. It is very potent—only a drop or two is needed.
Infused Botanicals in Organic Israeli Olive Oil:
- Frankincense (Boswellia Hojari sacra resin)
- Frankincense (Boswellia frereana resin)
- Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha resin)
- Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum verum)
- Cassia Cinnamon
- Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens)
- Cedarwood (Cedrus libani)
- Hibiscus (symbolic of the Rose of Sharon)
These eight are among the original thirteen referenced historically, combined with the carrier oil.
To round out the fragrance for meditation, I also included:
- Boswellia papyrifera
- Styrax Benzoin (Sumatra)
- Dammar Copal
- Boswellia neglecta resins
- Dried rose petals
This makes the aroma fuller and more balanced, while remaining respectful of the biblical tradition.
Note on Tradition:
This oil is inspired by scripture but not identical to the sacred formula. As written in Exodus 30:37–38:
“Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the Lord. Whoever makes incense like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from their people.”
We are not permitted to recreate the exact formula, but using select herbs with thoughtful additions allows us to honor its spirit.
Fragrance Profile:
Earthy, grounding, with warm cinnamon undertones—truly unique.
Availability:
Bottled fresh for 2025 in elegant 1 oz square and 2 oz gold-top bottles. Each purchase includes a touch of the natural sediment for authenticity. Once this batch is sold, the next will not be ready until next year.
